Biogas agitators from Paulmichl stand for high quality and robustness. They have to be efficient, powerful and durable - agitators that are committed to sustainability and cost-effectiveness. Here you will find an overview of our product range for use in biogas plants, especially for fermenters, secondary fermenters, final storage tanks and pre-pits.

No two biogas agitators are the same. An overview of our agitator types.

Long-shaft agitator: powerful & flexible

Paddle mixers are high-performance biogas mixers designed for the reliable mixing of substrates and are ideal for biogas tanks with constant or fluctuating fill levels. They consist of a sturdy outer tube with a mixing shaft and robust mixing blades, and are installed directly into the biogas tank via wall or ceiling mounting.

Thanks to their robust construction and powerful drive technology, Paulmichl propeller mixers ensure reliable substrate movement and efficient biogas production, even with varying dry matter contents. The hydraulic tilt adjustment allows for targeted flow control within the digester and helps to effectively prevent the formation of floating and sinking layers.

Paddle agitators: gentle & efficient

Paddle agitators are biogas agitators designed for the gentle and uniform mixing of substrates with a high dry matter content (DM content). The slow, continuous agitation ensures homogeneous substrate distribution and supports process stability in the biogas plant. The uniform substrate movement prevents deposits and contributes to constant and reliable biogas production – even with demanding substrates with a high solids content.

In combination with the Paulmichl Mammut agitator, this creates a highly efficient agitator solution for biogas plants. The interaction of different agitator types ensures reliable plant operation and optimal flow control within the tank.

Submersible motor agitators: compact & versatile

Submersible motor agitators are compact biogas agitators that are installed directly in the substrate of the biogas tank and feature an integrated, direct-drive motor. They are characterised by high operational flexibility and good flow properties.

Thanks to their design, submersible motor agitators are particularly suitable for biogas plants with fluctuating fill levels, smaller tanks, as well as for post-fermentation tanks and pre-digesters. They ensure effective mixing of the substrate, prevent deposits and support stable biogas production.

Agitator technology for biogas plants

If the fermenting substrates are left to themselves in the fermenter or the secondary fermentation tank, sinking and floating layers of varying density are created, which slow down the decomposition process. Biogas agitators prevent this by mixing the biomass evenly. They ensure a homogeneous mass, promote the biological decomposition of the organic materials and help to optimise biogas production.

Highly efficient agitators: in use 24/7

Agitators ensure movement in the fermentation substrate. Highly efficient agitators such as those from Paulmichl are indispensable for biogas plants and have several tasks:

  • Mixing the fermentation substrate
  • Preventing sedimentation and floating layers
  • Supporting the temperature equilibrium in the fermenter (important for the microbial degradation process)
  • Ensuring that the microorganisms have access to the organic materials to be degraded
  • Promotion of biogas production

Efficient agitator technology

There is no clear recommendation for one agitator. Which biogas agitator you should use depends on the plant concept, the substrate, the temperature in the fermenter and, last but not least, the desired longevity. Combinations can also be very useful. We are also happy to support you in the construction of your biogas plant - from planning and pipeline construction to commissioning.
